A study of depression as a result of the Anthropocene.
Femininity is a beautiful and complex experience that can feel difficult to emanate because of society’s interpretation of it, and even more so in a state of depression. We are led to believe that to be a woman is to be maternal, approachable, happy, bright, delicate, curvy, passive or soft-spoken. There is no room for negativity, jagged edges, or noise. This is harmful to the development of mindset: if we do not hold the listed qualities, we are somehow less of a woman and therefore less of a person.
There is an internal struggle between wanting to feel like society’s definition of a woman, and what it means for the earth and my mindset should I comply. I have the ability to express my own femininity and redefine it, choosing what it means to be a woman in my own body.
